Elliot is 5 weeks old today... VERY exciting.. however, in Quinnie news.. he celebrated Elliot's 5 week birthday by getting a buzz cut today. It was traumatizing as all haircuts are for him.. but we decided to go for it with a super short summer cut (and maximize the time before he needs another one!!!!!).

He is 97% for both height and weight at 22 1/2 inches and 10 lbs 12 oz! He actually gained 22 oz in the past 2 weeks! Crazy!!!

We had to get up early and out of the house quick with sleepy head the morning Papa Bob flew back to Guatemala. So we left him in his snowman Pjs and threw on shoes, jacket and hat. The result was ridiculous and adorable!

Quinnie had a Ped. appt. this week for his 18 month checkup.

He is 34 1/4" tall, which puts him in the 95%.

He weighs 29 lbs (almost 100 lbs), which puts him in the 90%.

And he has a huge head.... 50 1/4 cm, which is 97%.

No real shocker there on size, everyone can tell he is a big guy. And I guess a big head is good.. I mean if he had a 50% head on a 95% body, he would look funny :-)

Ok so you saw the recession Easter Bunny photo MINUS an Easter bunny. :-)

We had a "real" Easter Bunny at Walmart, but Quinn wouldn't have anything to do with him. I tried sitting on the bench with Quinn on my lap, but he almost crawled over me trying to get away. Here is Quinn pulling me away from the poor, dejected Easter Bunny....

I would definitely recommend going to Walmart though. You can't beat a free easter bunny. You can see the backdrop & setup was pretty cute with fresh flowers. Plus free deserts! Here is quinn have a part of a cupcake (daddy volunteered to finish the rest of it for him). The cupcakes were very yummy. We arrived just before it was over.. the cookies were gone, but there was also NO LINE!

Besides.. who needs cookies when you can have cupcakes!! They are doing it here next Saturday and Sunday as well. So if you want a free Easter Bunny photo.... head to Walmart. (We haven't picked up our picture yet, so I am not sure what shot they got... but it won't be a smiling one!)

We are back from Salt Lake City! Quinn and I had a quick, whirlwind trip to visit Jenn and Isabelle up in snow country! Quinn did great for me on the plane both ways. I was a bit nervous having to drive to phoenix and fly to Salt Lake City all by myself with Quinnie, but it went fine. Here are some fun pictures from our trip.

We had Quinn's 15 month appointment on Monday. He was a wild child for the dr, talking up a storm and crawling around everywhere. He is doing fine and still growing bigger for his age..
Height 95%: 32.75"
Head 97%: 49 cm
Weight 75%:26 lbs 10 oz
The weight might be a bit lower than reality because he wanted to crawl off or rock the scale the entire time we tried to weigh him :)

Ok, I have had a few questions about christmas ideas for quinnie..
Books are great, he likes ones that you can manipulate like open flaps, or feel different textures, but really any toddler books are cool.

Also puzzles, we don't have any puzzles yet...
the wood kind with handles would be best.

1 Year Dr. Visit

I thought I would post the vitals for anyone interested in our 1-year Pediatrician visit. Quinnie is still growing like a weed. He is 32 inches tall, which keeps him in the 97%+ for his height. However, since he has been so active.. running around with his walker and crawling like mad.. his weight didn't keep up. He weighs 25 lbs, 6 oz which is only 86% for his age.

He is still a big dude :)

Ok, sorry these pictures are late.. we have been busy at Disneyland! :)

Quinn was a bit hestiant to try the cake at first. However, once he realized how yummy it was, he had no problems digging in!

Happy 1st Birthday... Quinn was in a sugar coma after the cake and we have NO smilely pictures after that point. I think someone was due a nap!

Quinn is 1 years old!

Quinn's b-day was Monday, but we had a party on Saturday for him. Mostly just immediate family, his grandparents, great-grandparents and uncles/aunts. He was pretty wild, crawling everywhere, in and out of rooms and shaking his helium balloons.

He started walked a few days before his b-day, only a few steps at a time, but it was a crazy cool thing to see. He is still doing only a few steps at a time, and just does it out of the blue, he generally can't be coaxed to do it. Crawling is still faster and safer for him.

Anyway, we have a few photos and videos to put up and I will do that soon. Also if you were at the party and captured any great photos, let me know please. I would love copies! :)

Oh and we are going to the Ped. today for his 1-year appointment. I will let you know how it went!

Quinnie will hit the 1-year mark in 2 weeks. Here are some more goodies for all his adoring fans!

We hit a nearby park. We managed to swing and slide a bit, although it was hot. Quinn really enjoyed crawling on the concrete for some reason. We kept sticking him in the grass, and he would high-tail it over to the concrete. Crazy kid :)

Dirt is very fun to play with.. at least that is what Quinn claims.

Playing at his Ped's office. He can now enjoy the toys, which helps while we are waiting to be seen!

Quinn is now standing on his own.. ~ 30 seconds at a time. He is definitely learning that he can balance himself. Walking will be next :)

Quinn's First Zoo Visit

We decided to do an impromptu trip to the zoo Sunday morning. It was Quinnie's first zoo visit, and Peter and I's first visit in a LONG time. It was a warm day, but we were there by 9:30 and only stayed a few hours. Quinn had fun, although most of his fun had to do with the little birdies that would walk by his stroller, the zoo info thingy that twirls and his monkey pail from lunch (See pictures). I think he is a just few months too young, we will be back when it is a bit cooler and he is a bit older.

I found him sitting up in his crib this morning. He definitely can sit well and has been occasionally pulling himself up into the sitting position randomly, but this was the first time I found him like this in his crib. He looks like a monkey in his cage.

Quinnie has been waving and clapping (patty cake) for the past week. Grandma and Great Grandma taught him Patty cake last week, he picked up on it super fast. I guess I was a bad mom not teaching it sooner. The bye bye wave is getting really consistent. He waved at the target cashier today when we were checking out. :) He loves to clap and wave randomly on his own while he playing too!

I will try to get some pictures of both up soon!

9 month update

Ok. So here are the numbers at 9 months
Height: 31 " = 97+%
Weight 23 lbs 8 oz = 90%
Head 47 cm = 90%

So it looks like he has sprouted up considerably compared with his weight and head size. No shots at 9 months and his Ped was very happy with his development, no other news to report on the health front.

We do have some other very exciting news.. I saw him pull himself up to the standing position (from sitting) using a toy thingy. It was very nerve racking, and he stood there.. hanging on to the toy for about 5 minutes before "plopping" back down on his bottom.

He is still not crawling... he rolls and squirms, but prefers to be "walking" or standing.. so maybe he won't be a big crawler, we will see..

Happy 9 Months Quinn!!

We have a 3rd bottom tooth coming in fast and a 4th one slowly coming in. He has also started shaking his head no....super cute, side to side real fast. He doesnt really understand what it means (thanks goodness).. but he thinks its fun to do!

We go to the Dr. next monday ( 6/30) for his 9 month check up. I will post more then. :)

We did some more swimming at the other grandparent's pool last night. My mom had bought Quinn this little boat/floaty thing which was fun!

It's been pretty hot lately, so we decided a quick cool off session after dinner was in order. Here are a couple pics. :)

Quinnie and I had a huge adventure trip to Phoenix Thursday, where we stayed overnight without Peter. Luckily, we picked up Aunt Annalee from the airport, who saved me :) We were all there to meet Izzy, Jenn's new baby (I guess she is Thomas' too). :)

Anyway, we had a great time, meeting the cute little thing, she is still so delicate, wildly contrasting to my crazy boy who is only about 6 months older. It is crazy how much they grow in such a short time period. Unfortunately I am a bad mommy/friend and didn't get any photos... hopefully I can steal a few from Jenn to post.

It was a crazy short trip, but it was nice to see everyone, I just wish we knew when would see everyone again.

Peter brought home a little baby pool for Quinn yesterday, so we broke it in today. He had lots of fun splashing!

We have been working on eating little pieces of bananas and gerber puffs, and also using a sippy cup... he likes to pick up the food, because they are tiny things and he likes to chew on the sippy cup, but that is about it :)

Ok quick blog before bedtime. Our first mother's day went great, I stayed home all day except to go on our evening walk and a quick visit to my parent's house afterwards. Peter made me breakfast this morning and watched Quinn most of the day. I managed to get some organizing and things done around the house in between watching Indiana Jones and playing with Quinnie. Here is a couple cute shots Peter took today. :)

Health Update

So Quinnie had his first cold/illness this past week. We both caught a touch of something from Daddy. Poor guy was running nose and coughing, new things for him. His nose is still runny, but he seems to be doing a lot better. Compounded with his new teeth, we had him hooked up to an "IV" of tylenol. :)

Then we ended up going with the mass hysteria and he got an early MMR since we have a measles epidemic in Tucson. I hates the Swedes!

Anyway, here are a couple of pics from this week.

He is definitely outgrowing the bouncy! We need to find a new HUGE one!

Monday was the big 3-0. Peter took the day off, so he was busy running errands in the morning, which included suprising me with a cake and flowers and having my car washed/filled up. Quinn and I hung out at home most of the day. After lunch the 3 of us stopped by my mom's for cake and a nap. :) My dad (with the help of stevie and lynn) made ribs, salad and potato soup for dinner. Overall a pretty good day. Here is a pic of us after dinner....

Quinnie didn't get cake, but here is Peter giving him some strawberry/bananas. I think Peter wanted a bite too :)

All I want for Mommy's Birthday... is my TWO front teeth...

Ok so I SWEAR I have started like 3 posts.. then never finish them, so here we go again. Lets see if I can get it finished.

Updates:
Quinnie has a top tooth in..
so we are up to 3, (2 on the bottom very developed and a 3rd on top) with a 4th one coming in hard and fast :)
He is also TALKING up a storm... He is a "BABABABABABA" boy. He does some other sounds like MA sounds but mostly BA. :)

Three Thirty AM

So, for the past week, Quinn has been getting up consistently at 3:30ish. So here I am blogging again late. Or is it early. When we saw the Dr. last week, she said to him him cry, which is hard for me to do, plus Peter has to work in the morning so it isn't really practical either. We have considered he might be hungry, but I have been trying to feed him a little cereal at dinner time, to help with that. Now I am thinking, is it possible, that he is just waking up now because it is morning to him? He has been sleeping for 8 hours or so. Anyway, I am not sure what we will do, because I am not super excited about watching the 4 AM news : )

6th Month Check Up

Quinnie is still running big all the way around.

Height: 20 lbs 14 oz - 90%

Length: 27 1/2 inches - 90%

Head: 45 cm- 90%

We had one shot (although I think it was technically 2 or 3 vaccinations) + 1 oral vaccination. I guess there is also an outbreak of measles in the area, so the CDC has upped the MMR recommended age to 6 months, particularly for daycare babies. Since Quinnie is at home with me and we don't know any of the kids, we will hold off on the vaccine until the normal 1 year old recommendation.

Quinnie definitely has 2 bottom teeth, for maybe the past 6 weeks or so. The doctor could also see the top 2 teeth, just behind the gums. So they are ready to come out anytime.

Here he is after his appointment, doing fine despite his screech after the shot. Poor guy :(

Some of Mommy's Favorite Quinn Things :)

So I was thinking about how some baby things have been so awesome with Quinn.

This little bath seat is great. We use it all the time for bathing, and love that it is a soft mesh seat that allows the warm bath water to keep Quinnie comfortable during his bath. In addition, its been a great seat to place him when we are in the bathroom or taking a shower.

Plastic rings are some of the best toys ever. They can be used in many situation and he never gets tried of swinging them around wildly or chewing on them.

I also love these little outfits, super practical since the little legs eliminate the need for shorts, plus they have the convenience of onsies.

The Boppy seat has been awesome for feeding Quinn. When he was a little guy we would use it to help us keep him comfortable in our arms. He can now use it on his own, to feed himself when reclined at the perfect angle.

In addition, he uses it now for a little extra balance while he sits up.

I also love the soft little books, he loves to wave them around crazily, chew on them, etc.

Oh and Daddy is also one of Mommy's favorite Quinn Toys. Here they are practicing push ups together.
